After South Africa’s case at the International Court of Justice earlier this year, the term ‘genocide’ has been thrust back into the spotlight. But what exactly does genocide mean, and how rare are they?
In this course, Clive will look at genocides from recent history, and all the way back to the conception of the word itself, while also considering the international community’s response to them.
This course will consider the issues surrounding the concept of genocide and why it’s a really tricky issue, and also turn to the Holocaust to explore what, if anything, is distinctive about the Shoah and what we need to know about it.
Join us for another history-centred course with Clive that will also include a mix of current political affairs, and Clive's extensive experience as a Holocaust educator.
Clive was the first person to initiate Holocaust education at school level in the 1970s, and is now a leading educator on the March of the Living UK programme.
