Yair Lev is a ducumentaryy director, a Professor of screen arts and a lecturer at Sam Spiegel Film School. His breakthrough movie followed his Holocaust survivor father, Hugo Lev, while highlighting the complicated relationships between survivors and their sons and daughters. Lev continued to an illustrious career which included awarded movies Yakantalisa (1996), Uri Avnery: A Warrior for Peace (2002), Hugo 2 (2008) AND The Longings of Maya Gordon (2017).
His film "You Only Die Twice" (2018) co-produced by David Deri, who also filmed and co-wrote the script, was a major success, both in sales and reviews. The film is a documentary thriller the follows Lev, acting as a detective and reveals the man who stole his grandfather's identity during World War II. The film, a co-production of Israeli-Austrian co-production with NGF, has featured in more than forty international festivals around the world (including Doc Spring, Thessaloniki, Diagonal-Austria, Chagrin Falls-Ohio, and Krakow) and has won numerous awards as well as nominations for the Ophir Award.
