Charlston’s heavenly mezzo-soprano voice, Manson’s exquisite gamba and cello playing, and Bucheli’s delicate and sensitive lute playing promise to be perfectly matched with each other and with the music in their fascinating and very varied programme of composers all born before J S Bach (albeit Handel by only 7 weeks).
The centrepiece is a dramatic and impassioned Handel cantata, and the other shorter pieces by Purcell, Dowland, Marais, Charpentier et al are equally riveting. The very intimate JW3 Hall will be perfect for this music.
“Noble tone production, faultless security of technique and intonation made (Jonathan Manson’s) playing pure pleasure.” – Wiener Zeitung
“Charlston’s voice is little short of miraculous… a true star." – The Evening Standard
