As one of the leaders of the movement in British schools to turn Religious Education from purely education in Christianity to education in all the world’s major religions, Clive is ideally placed to take you through a whistle stop tour of the ‘big six’ – Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam. If there’s time, Clive will also ‘play requests’ and try to give outlines of other religions that members of the class are interested in.
Clive Lawton has been an LJCC scholar-in-residence, exploring literary, philosophical, historical and religious themes in a wide variety of courses and specials over the years. One of the founders of – and still a key force behind – Limmud, Clive has been a headmaster, Chair of a hospital trust, on the Metropolitan Police Authority, and much else besides. He is a magistrate and one of the world’s leading calendrical experts.
