From mystery to history, William Tyler MBE explores this intriguing region.
The Himalayas was for centuries an area unknown to the West, comprising parts of the modern states of India, Pakistan, China, Bhutan, and Nepal. It is a place full of vibrant cultures and gripping history, conflicting religions and lurking violence.
Although the region may be far away from us, its fascination never fails to excite, from the climbing of Mount Everest to the fabled Shangri-La, and today it has become a potential flashpoint in ‘The New Great Game’, a ‘game’ played out for centuries at the top of the world.
William Tyler MBE has a large following at JW3, he is a freelance educator, lecturer, public speaker, writer and consultant with a main focus on History. He was the Principal of The City Lit, Britain’s largest college of adult education. He was his awarded his MBE for services to education. During lockdown William created a much followed blog for those attending his sessions.
