Join Dr Emily Simon for this three-part series exploring essential topics in female health. Each session dives into a different topic, with expert insight from Dr Simon and her guest speakers, Miss Joanna Franks, consultant breast surgeon and Katie Taylor of the Latte Lounge.
This series is safe and welcoming space open to everyone, regardless of age, gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation. We welcome everyone to come and engage with these essential topics.
22 January: Breast Health for All Ages
For this talk we will be joined by the exceptional breast surgeon Joanna Franks. We will explore why the Jewish community is particularly affected by breast cancer, how to be vigilant in preventing and checking for changes to the breast and the different types of cancers and treatments available. We will look at the NHS breast screening programme and why additional screening may be necessary. It is open and relevant to women of all ages.
26 February: Perimenopause, Menopause, and Beyond
We will be thinking about the perimenopause, the menopause, and the post-menopausal period. We will think about the wide range of symptoms that women may present with and try and understand what is causing these changes and how best to manage them. We will look at lifestyle interventions, HRT and other medical options including those available to women who have had breast cancer. We will be joined by the wonderful Katie Taylor who set up the hugely successful Latte Lounge; an online community for women over 40, providing support, information & signposting for midlife health & wellbeing.
20 March: Sexual Health and Female Pleasure
In this session, we will look at female desire and pleasure. We will try and understand why it has taken so long for us to get here historically and why everyone experiences sex differently. We will think about our anatomy, the sexual response cycle in women, what motivates us and inhibits us, and how we can have positive healthy sexual encounters.
