William will look at some of the key episodes of The Second World War, across all theatres, by exploring the events through the eyes of contemporaries, as recorded in their diaries and autobiographies.
In doing so we shall be able to judge the effect of the war on a variety of individuals. We shall place these first-hand accounts within their historical context. Subjects will range from The Western Desert to the Jungles of Burma, from The Holocaust to The Home Front, from Dunkirk to D Day, from The Battle of Britain to The Atlantic Convoys.
