A sheltered young high society woman joins the United States Army on a whim and finds herself in a more difficult situation than she ever expected.
The abrupt and tragic ending of Judy Benjamin’s second marriage – a mere six hours after the guests left the wedding – leaves her in a state of despair and confusion. Quite naturally, then, the pampered socialite decides to join the US army, an even worse case of matchmaking than her two former spouses. Though starting off on the wrong (boot-clad) foot, Judy’s army stint soon turns into a hugely empowering and character-building experience, not to mention hilariously funny.
This ultimate Jewish American Princess comedy, starring a radiant Goldie Hawn, may have turned 40 this year, but it is as fresh and delightful as it was in 1980.
This film is part of the UK Jewish Film Festival.
