Join JW3’s new singing circle, Niggun, celebrating the rich variety of different Jewish song traditions, with emphasis on niggunim, the wordless melodies of Chassidic communities.
All are welcome. No prior knowledge of Hebrew, Ladino, Yiddish, or Aramaic needed, just a passion to come together and sing. Led by choir leader and ethnomusicologist Isaac Montagu.
Isaac Montagu is a folk musician and Jewish educator who believes in bringing communities together through texts and song. With his roots in London’s Spanish and Portuguese Sephardi community, he is currently pursuing postgraduate research at the School of Oriental and African Studies (University of London) specialising in Sephardi liturgical music. He also has a deep love of Ashkenazi niggunim, and their power to welcome all into singing that is lishmah, for its own sake.
