Join JW3’s singing circle, Niggun, celebrating the rich variety of Jewish song traditions, ranging from niggunim, the wordless melodies of Chassidic communities, to pizmonim, sung poetry from across the Sephardic world.
Led by choir leader, folk musician and ethnomusicologist Isaac Montagu, a folk musician and Jewish educator who believes in bringing communities together through texts and song. With his roots in London’s Spanish and Portuguese Sephardi community, he is currently pursuing postgraduate research at the School of Oriental and African Studies (University of London) specialising in Sephardi liturgical music. He also has a deep love of Ashkenazi niggunim, and their power to welcome all into singing that is lishmah, for its own sake.
