To coincide with the introduction of JTree, this will be a celebration of trees from spiritual, scientific and creative points of view.
Rabbi Jonathan Wittenberg, co-founder and driving force behind EcoSynagogue, JTree, and Senior Rabbi of the Masorti movement will be joined by Jonathan Drori CBE, former Kew Trustee and author of “Around the World in 80 Trees” and Tracy Chevalier, Woodland Trust Ambassador and author of Girl with a Pearl Earring”. Their lively, illustrated conversation will be chaired by Emily Kasriel of BBC News. We will also be hearing from upcoming Bar Mitzvah boy Ely Boyd, who is working towards achieving the planting of 613 trees in honour of his Bar Mitzvah, through JTree, and why this project means so much to him.
JTree is a vital part of world Jewish community’s response to the climate emergency, funding tree-planting and forest renewal. – the right trees, in the right places, planted in the right way by local communities.
This event is a partnership with EcoSynagogue, which puts the Jewish relationship with the environment at the centre of policy and practice.
Every ticket purchased will enable a UK native tree to be planted.
