Join Nick Sayers and hear about his book, an exploration of his personal quest to understand more of his family’s background, as well as broader questions about modern Jewish history in Lithuania.
Why were lots of Jewish people living in Lithuania in the late nineteenth century? Why did some Jews emigrate, and where did they go? What happened to Lithuanian Jews during the Holocaust, and how has Lithuanian society tried to come to terms with this in the post-war world?
Much of Jewish history in Lithuania is filled with tragedy. However, Nick will also reflect on the more positive aspects of the Jewish experience in Lithuania.
Few know about the lost world of the Jews of Lithuania, and Nick’s book, The Jews of Lithuania: A Journey Through the Long Twentieth Century, aims to fill that gap.
