Esther Solomon is the editor-in-chief of Haaretz English, its English-language website and print edition. She was born and raised in London, studied English literature at the University of Cambridge and international relations at LSE, moving to Israel in 1998.
After working as a political researcher, strategic consultant and freelance writer, she arrived at Haaretz 16 years ago, establishing Haaretz English’s opinion section a decade ago and becoming editor-in-chief in June 2022.
Since then, she has led the print and online coverage of Israel’s pro-democracy protests, October 7 and the Gaza war. She writes regularly on subjects ranging from Jews and the far right to Bosnian genocide denial and Palestinian refugees.
She is a founding member of Kehillat Yachad, a progressive modern Orthodox community in Tel Aviv.
