After Hitler’s suicide at the end of April 1945, Admiral Donitz became the second and last Fuehrer.
His ‘administration’ lasted a week until a full surrender was finalised. The Allies immediately initiated a Denazification Programme; that of the Western Allies had a significant impact on both the German Economic Miracle and the solid foundations that were laid for the return of German democracy.
