While admired for her striking blonde hair, infectious smile, and inescapable giggle, Goldie Hawn is also a significant industry player, especially at the peak of her stardom in the 1980s when she produced many of her hit films, including the critically and commercially successful Private Benjamin (1980).
Beginning her career as a dancer before finding success as a ‘ditsy blonde’ on the hit sketch comedy, programme, Laugh-In (1968-1973), Hawn has always challenged herself, appearing in variety programmes on American television in the 70s and 80s, tackling dramatic filmic material, being involved in the production of her films and establishing her foundation to promote well-being.
This talk will focus on Hawn’s career as a performer, industry player, and philanthropist to discuss how this ‘dumb blonde’ was able to transition to a become a Hollywood mogul.
