In this course, Angela will look at ethical issues arising from the Holocaust, focusing on the legal trials conducted afterwards.

This will include the group trials in Belsen and Nuremberg, the individual trials of perpetrators such as Rudolph Hoess and Adolf Eichman, cases against collaborators, and the huge challenge of Holocaust denial.

Angela will also examine the moral questions around the emotional, institutional and financial resources required for ‘Nazi hunting’, the deliberate destruction of evidence, and the question of trying people for actions that were not unlawful where and when they were committed.

Angela Gluck has worked as a teacher, trainer and consultant to schools and local authorities. She is the author of over 40 books on aspects of religion and history, and broadcasts on these subjects. She devotes part of her work to teaching children, young people and adults in cross-communal settings. She is an active trustee of The Separated Child Foundation.
