Julie is back, this time spotlighting Hollywood actress and fashion icon Diane Keaton.

Diane Keaton has appeared in over 50 films, won numerous awards (including the Academy Award for Best Actress), is famous for a specific ‘look’ that emerged in conjunction with her star-making role in the 1977 film, Annie Hall, and has dated some of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelors (Warren Beatty, in particular).

Even with this notable career longevity, there is a deep connection between Keaton - star and actress - and Annie Hall - character; often referred to in the popular press.

This talk will examine Keaton’s film stardom from early films co-starring her then-boyfriend, Woody Allen, through to celebrated dramatic roles, contemporary ‘silver screen’ romantic comedies, and her position as an enduring fashion and beauty icon.

Dr Julie Lobalzo Wright is an Assistant Professor in Film and Television Studies at the University of Warwick. She has taught and researched film and television stardom for many years, publishing work and giving talks on various stars, including Judy Garland, Elvis Presley, David Bowie and Barbra Streisand.
