He has lost 32 family members in the current Israel-Gaza war. He will sit down with acclaimed Sunday Times journalist Josh Glancy to discuss why he now devotes his days to promoting peace and understanding, while criticising both Hamas and Israeli policies.
They’ll explore their unique perspectives on current events, social challenges, and the power of storytelling to drive change.
Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib is a resident senior fellow with the Scowcroft Middle East Security Initiative at the Atlantic Council’s Middle East Programs and an American writer and analyst who grew up in Gaza City, having left in 2005 as an exchange student to the United States. He writes extensively on Gaza’s political and humanitarian affairs, is an outspoken critic of Hamas, and a promoter of coexistence and peace as the only path forward between Palestinians and Israelis. Alkhatib has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s in intelligence and national security studies. His writing and opinions have been published in US, Israeli, and international press.
Josh Glancy is the editor of News Review at The Sunday Times, where he also contributes regular columns and features. Prior to this, he was the paper’s Washington bureau chief and before that New York correspondent. He’s interviewed everyone from Keir Starmer to Rachel Reeves to Vanessa Feltz for The Sunday Times Magazine. Josh was also a longtime columnist at the Jewish Chronicle and now writes a monthly column for the Jewish News. His Jewish writing used to focus on bagels and herring, but has become more serious of late.
