The Yiddish open-mic café is a participatory Yiddish jamboree of songs, poems, jokes, stories, games, serious and funny, all in Yiddish, but with English translation.
The Yiddish Open Mic Cafe has been meeting monthly for the last three years, becoming a world event through zoom. October’s Open Mic had audience and participants from Russia, Mexico, Argentina, Israel, Canada, South Africa, Australia, France, the US as well as our home-grown UK’ers.
Some turns are written by the performers, some are readings of well-known Yiddish writers. Participants range from beginners to those for whom Yiddish is their mother tongue. Our special guest this month is Miryem-Khaye Seigel from Brooklyn, New York, who will share some songs and comedy.
