Opening our Season, Dame Imogen Cooper (Piano) is treating us to a recital centred round two sets of Schubert Impromptus, each containing four quite short pieces of extraordinary profundity, composed towards the end of Schubert’s short but richly productive life.
Dame Imogen is famous for her Schubert interpretations and has recorded these pieces to great acclaim. Two Bach Chorales and some Beethoven Bagatelles complete this unmissable programme.
“Imogen is one of the greatest musicians England has produced. She's utterly without show. Mozart, Schumann and Schubert could have been written for her”. – Sir Simon Rattle
