Join us for a powerful and thought-provoking event marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day and the end of World War II in Europe.
Stories of Liberation weaves together eyewitness testimony, voices of descendants, creative explorations and historical context to reflect on the closing chapter of the war and its aftermath, including the horrors uncovered at Bergen-Belsen and other concentration camps.
Through the stories of survivors, liberators and those who provided vital relief, we will explore the complexities of liberation, where hope and unimaginable loss existed side by side.
While acknowledging that freedom did not mean an immediate happy ending, we will reflect on the resilience, courage and determination of those who survived, bore witness and rebuilt their lives.
The evening will include a short performance of A Hell on Earth by Time Will Tell Theatre, a powerful reenactment of first-hand accounts from the liberation of Bergen-Belsen.
