220,000 Lithuanian Jews – the vast majority of what was a spectacularly thriving community – were murdered in the Holocaust.

Nationalist and Nazi collaborator Jonas Noreika was one of the key architects of that unfathomable massacre. Yet, despite his horrific legacy, Noreika is seen to this day as a national hero in his country.

In this powerful documentary, British filmmaker of Lithuanian descent Michael D Kretzmer follows two campaigners – one of whom is none other than Noreika’s granddaughter – who, like him, vehemently resist Lithuania’s systematic Holocaust denial. This fascinating, eye-opening film sheds a new light on how, even today, a modern European nation can distort and overlook the memory and history of the Holocaust.

Followed by a Q&A with the director Michael D Kretzmer.
