Synopsis
Here We Are is a poignant road (and rail) trip which explores the line between protecting a grown child with special needs and letting them live their own life.
Divorced Aharon has given up much in his life to raise his son Uri, including his marriage. They live together in a gentle routine, away from the real world. But Uri is autistic, and now as a young adult it might be time for him to live in a specialised home so that he can learn to live a more independent life and expand his horizons.
Aharon feels passionately that without his father as a constant presence, Uri will be unable to cope, and the deep love and understanding between them would seem to point in that direction.
While on their way to the institution, Aharon decides to run away with his son and hits the road, knowing that Uri is not ready for this separation. Or is it, in fact, his father who is not ready?
