What's Happening

Musicians

Nina Fine
Nina Fine is a soulful singer songwriter from London. Her raw earthy vocals and Jazz influenced piano explore themes of sensuality, vulnerability, relationships and realness. Drawing influence at a young age from Nina Simone, Regina Spektor and Norah Jones, Nina’s music has taken a journey of story-telling and finding her voice.

FABLE
FABLE's navigation through the folk-alt pop sphere is a layered and fragile journey of reflective lyrics and perfectly blended harmonies. Sabrina was born in America, raised in Spain and eventually settled in London where she met London-based Becky. Their starkly different musical influences range from Electronic to classic Singer/Songwriter; including James Blake, Four Tet, Joni Mitchell and Susanne Sundfør. Through social media, the duo have begun building a small but strong following of fans. They are looking forward to their first release later this year.

Tinder Ballads with Becky CJ
Have you ever had a horrendous conversation on Tinder, JSwipe or Hinge? I mean the answer is obviously yes but what did you do about it? Becky CJ decided to take some of the most ridiculous and shocking tinder conversations from the webosphere and make some hilarious but powerful ballads from them. Luckily, she’s decided to come along to Summer of Love Fest and share a few with us.

Bumi Thomas & The Rising Suns
Bumi Thomas is a contemporary Scottish Nigerian singer-songwriter whose ethereal voice stokes the soul transcendentally. Her acoustic and evocative style is inspired by her multicultural heritage expressed visually and sonically as invocations of non-linear identity. 'I tell stories about movement, migration, displacement, joy and humanity.’

Her cinematic sound combines jazz, high-life rhythms, palmwine grooves, reggae and blues, infused with folk and delivered with soul. Her musicality is rich in texture, stimulating lyrics, haunting melodies and raw emotion. Playing sold out shows in  venues such as the London Jazz Cafe, Roundhouse, Somerset House, Ronnie Scotts,  Royal Festival Hall,WOW (Women of the World) Festival, Frieze Art Fair,  eARTh, Houses of Parliament, Tate Modern  Autograph, New Art Exchange, Royal Opera House  London Palladium and the Royal Albert Hall.

DJ Tam Tam
Tami aka DJ TAMTAM is your resident DJ for the night at Summer of Love Fest at JW3. As a regular DJ at Homos and Houmus Queer Jewish Cabaret Party, expect sounds which will bring love into the air, fill the room with romance and take you back to your favourite Jewish party.

Live Drawing by Sophie Herxheimer
Artist and poet Sophie Herxheimer will be celebrating at Summer of Love Fest by transforming your stories of love and friendship  into beautiful pieces of art that you’ll be able to take home

All you need to do is pop along to her table in Zest, and tell Sophie your stories of lockdown love, your best (or worst!) date, your favourite time with your besties or that time you spent the day turning the love inward and did something special for you.

Sophie Herxheimer is an artist and poet. She’s held many residencies including for The National Maritime Museum, The Museum of Liverpool and Transport for London. Her work has been shown at her local allotments, Tate Modern and on a giant mural along the sea-front at Margate. She made a 300 metre tablecloth for the Thames Festival, a life size concrete poem in the shape of Mrs Beeton to stand next to her grave, and a pie on the lawn of an old people’s home big enough for seven drama students to jump out of, singing. She has illustrated five collections of Fairy Tales and made many artists’ books. Her collection Velkom to Inklandt (Short Books, 2017) was a Poetry Book of the Month in the Observer and a Sunday Times Book of the Year. Her book 60 Lovers to Make and Do, (Henningham Family Press, 2019) was a TLS Book of the Year. In 2019 she was a Hawthornden fellow. Her new collection is INDEX, a box of 78 collage poems, published as a pack of prophetic cards by experimental press, zimZalla. A recent commission was to write a poem in honour of William Blake, for St James’ Church Piccadilly, where he was baptised. An ongoing project is to collect stories from the public by listening and drawing live in ink. She has over 1500 of these unique collaborative works so far.
