Emma Brand is a theatre-maker and performer from London. Her work explores social issues through playful, audience-centric means. Having studied Performance Making at Goldsmiths University, she has taken shows to VAULT Festival, (drop dead gorgeous, 2020), Brighton Fringe (How to Make Me Happy, 2018) and the Edinburgh Fringe (Whalebone, 2017). 'Whalebone' was selected as one of The Stage's Highlights of the Fringe in 2017. She recently wrote, produced and performed her show 'The Stove' as part of Electric Dreams Online ('Brand creates a magical world of comfort for all to share', **** A Younger Theatre).
Jasmine Teo is a director who has worked in London and Singapore; productions she has directed include The Bevin Boys (Pentameters Theatre; London Pub Theatres Standing Ovation Nominee), White Girl (The Upsetters’ Scratch Night), The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye (Pentameters Theatre), The Last Five Years (Henderson Project), The Teenage Textbook Musical (Drama Centre Studio).
Some of her assistant director credits are: The Haystack (Roxana Silbert, Hampstead Theatre), The Wolves (Ellen McDougall, Theatre Royal Stratford East), and Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria (Justin Way, Iford Music Festival).
Jasmine is The CentrE17’s Associate Artist for 2020, where she has directed Nabilah Said’s Carbon Copy for the inaugural Singapore National Day theatre week, which she also produced, and the Meet the Future Creatives of Tomorrow artistic showcase. She is currently creating two new pieces for 45-North and JW3, and directing for Yellow Earth’s Professional Writers’ Programme showcase.
Rachel Bellman is a London-based writer and lyricist. She won the BYMT New Music Theatre Award for her musical The Dickens Girls, produced as part of BYMT’s summer season at the New Wolsey Theatre in 2019. Current projects include the musical Flower Cutters in development with Perfect Pitch, the musical Eyes Wide Open currently being workshopped at the University of Winchester, and the play Mazzikim.
Previous projects include the musical So-Called Gen Z produced by PQA at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe, the short play Peanut Butter performed at the Pleasance Theatre in 2018, Being Brilliant performed at Royal Concert Hall Nottingham in 2017, and mini-musicals Elf Spies and The Knights Before Christmas commissioned by Perfect Pitch in 2016. She is the co-author of the musical picture book and CD Barry the Penguin’s Black and White Christmas, narrated by Christopher Eccleston.
Performances of individual songs or extracts include Musical Bites at The Other Palace, SIGNAL, the Stiles + Drewe Best New Song Prize, and the London Musical Theatre Orchestra. Rachel studied English Literature at Oxford University, and has been part of the BOOK Music & Lyrics advanced composer/lyricist workshop, MMD writers’ lab, and Soho Theatre Writers’ Lab.
Dex Grodner is a London based live artist and the host of the queer, Jewish cabaret Homos and Houmous, which they perform as the Yiddish music hall grand dame Chanukah Lewinsky. They are particularly engaged with women’s and queer stories in Yiddish Theatre and have run workshops and retreats on gender and Judaism at Sadeh Farm, Limmud Festival and University of Cambridge, and given talks on gender and theatre practice at Ovalhouse, Hackney Showroom.
Shasha Dothan (b. 1987 Tel-Aviv) is a Brooklyn-based artist working with video, installation, poetry and sound. She creates immersive experiences that connect fragments of her personal history. Exhibitions include the Ramat Gan Museum of Israeli Art, Ramat Gan; Petach Tikva Museum of Art, Petah Tikva; Blum & Poe, Los Angeles; Human Resources, Los Angeles; Erica Broussard Gallery, Santa Ana; American Jewish University, Los Angeles; Jerusalem Cultural Season, Jerusalem; University at Buffalo Art Galleries, Buffalo: Ashdod museum of Art, Ashdod and MCLA Gallery 51,MA . Dothan received an MFA from University of California Los Angeles (2018), and a BFA from Shenkar College (2013). Awards and scholarships include the John Baldessari Family Foundation Scholarship (2017-18); Young Artist Award from the Israeli Ministry of culture (2018); Word prize from AJU; Asylum Arts Grant; Philip & Muriel Berman Foundation Grant (2019) Adams Family Foundation, Young Artist Award (2020) and the Artis residency grant for Vermont Studio center and NARS Foundation . She was an artist in residence at NARS Foundation, Mass Moca, Byrdcliffe and Vermont Studio center. She is a founding member of the art collective Anti Mehikon.
Guy is a performer, director and composer based in London. His acting credits include Becoming Electra (The Roundhouse and UK Tour), 3 Guys Naked From The Waist Down (Finborough Theatre), Thrill Me (The English Theatre of Hamburg and Jermyn Street Theatre), and Trigonometry (BBC2, Dir. Athina Rachel Tsangari).
Guy is Creative Director and Co-Founder of new theatre company represent, dedicated to redressing the socioeconomic imbalance in the industry. He has written the music for Sixth Form Romeo, a musical by Nigel Williams (Elizabeth I with Helen Mirren, The Wimbledon Trilogy novels) and Great Again (Tristan Bates and VAULT Festival, winner MIRO magazine pick of the festival) with Isla van Tricht.
Isla van Tricht is a theatre, TV, and games writer based in Brighton. Her work has been produced in London (incl. The Roundhouse, King’s Head Theatre, The Other Palace, VAULT Festival), Edinburgh (Edinburgh Festival Theatre & Underbelly), off-Broadway, New York City (59E59 Theaters) and a UK tour (incl. Nottingham Playhouse, Manchester Hope Mill, Plymouth Barbican). Her recent work includes Money (represent. commission ****iNews, Southwark Playhouse), Becoming Electra (**** WEE REVIEW), and TITS ‘N’ TEETH (**** THE SCOTSMAN). Her work has been longlisted for The Bruntwood Prize, Verity Bargate Award and Papatango Playwriting Prize.
She is currently on attachment with the Traverse Theatre and part of Hampstead Theatre’s Writers’ Group – mentored by Roy Williams. She is under commission to write two new plays this year and under option with Endor Productions to write an original TV series. Last year she undertook two R&D periods - one for The Money with represent theatre - and an ACE-development of her play The Two Gentlemen of The Hollow Heart, hosted by Hampstead Theatre and mentored by the Ringham Brothers. She is represented by Alex Bloch and Alexandra Kordas at 42.
Currently, Guy and Isla are writing a new musical called "The Correct Account of Activist, Writer and Genius Valerie Solanas, Who Famously Wrote the SCUM Manifesto, And Also Shot Andy Warhol, As Told by Herself and Her Friends”, recently runners up in Mercury Theatre's Songwriting Award and workshopping early next year.
