Visiting London to keep us up to date, Yair’s new book The Centre Must Hold will provide the focus for the evening's discussion

Yair Zivan is the editor and author of The Centre Must Hold, which makes the case for political centrism as the antidote to the extremism and polarisation which is tearing apart democratic societies.

Since 2014 he has been an advisor to the head of Israel's largest centrist party, Yair Lapid during his tenure as Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, Finance Minister and Leader of the Opposition. Yair has served as Diplomatic Advisor to the Prime Minister, Senior Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Foreign Minister and Senior Diplomatic Advisor to the Leader of the Opposition. Yair also led Yesh Atid's international relations building relations with like-minded parties across the world.

Before working for Mr. Lapid, he was International Media Spokesperson for President Shimon Peres. He has a BA in History from University College London and an MA in Government from Herzliya University. Yair grew up in the UK, living in Leicester and then London. After graduating from UCL he worked for two years as Campaigns Director for the Union of Jewish Students. Today, he lives in Tel Aviv with his wife Rebecca and their two sons
